The Cea is a 157 kilometers long left tributary of the Río Esla in the Spanish provinces of León , Valladolid and Zamora in the autonomous region of Castile and León .

The source of the Río Cea is located on the south side of the Cantabrian Mountains in the territory of the municipality of Prioro . His route initially leads south via Sahagún , later to the southwest, to finally flow north of Castrogonzálo as a left tributary into the Río Esla , which in turn flows into the Duero .
Tributaries
After the snow melts and after heavy rainfall, the Río Cea has a large number of more or less small tributaries; however, most of them run out of water in summer and autumn.

Attractions
The on St. James ( Camino Francés town Sahagún located) surprises with two impressive Romanesque churches in the Mudejar ( San Tirso and San Lorenzo ). There are also some historically significant buildings in the town of Mayorga .
Legend
Legend has it that the early Christian martyrs Facundus and Primitivus were beheaded on the banks of the Río Cea near Sahagún .
