Cedric Brooks
Cedric "Im" Brooks (* 1943 in Kingston ; † May 3, 2013 in New York City ) was a Jamaican reggae musician and saxophonist .
Live and act
Brooks became a student at the Alpha Boys School in Kingston when he was 11 . Brooks learned the clarinet there . As a young adult, Brooks learned the tenor saxophone and flute .
In the late 1960s he formed the duo Im & David with David Madden . It released a number of instrumental songs. The songs Money Maker and Mystic Mood were great hits.
From 1970 Brooks worked with Count Ossie and the group The Mystic Revelation of Rastafari . Brooks also founded the band The Light of Saba and was a member of the Skatalites .
Cedric Brooks had seven children.
Brooks had been in a coma-like state since February 2010 . Brooks suffered from high blood pressure and diabetes and lost the ability to speak. Brooks died of cardiac arrest at the age of 70 .
