Celler school

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Celle school was founded in 1996 as a "support seminar for text-makers in popular music". The aim is to professionalize exceptionally talented but not yet established lyricists by teaching writing techniques and creativity methods and to give them an insight into the work methods and requirements of the music industry.

The courses were held annually as a two-week master class in the Lower Saxony city of Celle until 2008 . After the seminar house there was closed, the Lutherheim in Springe was chosen as the new seminar location . The annual tender is open to everyone. Work samples must be submitted and mandatory tasks must be completed. From this, a jury of experts determines the ten participants from the fields of hits , folk music , cabaret , chanson , rock , pop music and children's songs across all genres .

The seminar was initiated by the author and lecturer Edith Jeske with the support of the German Lyricists Association and its then President Hans Hee , and is led by her, since 2002 together with Tobias Reitz . Rainer Bielfeldt has been a permanent member of the management team since 2005, and Julia Hagemann since 2013 . The school in Celle is financed by the GEMA Foundation and small participation fees. The Celler Schule is the only scholarship in Germany that is also open to songwriters who are not on stage themselves.

Edith Jeske names Bodo Wartke , Andreas Zaron , Heike Fransecky , Bodenski from Subway to Sally , Flo Peil , now with Kasalla , Fabian Schläper , Nina Schneider and Michael Krebs as well-known graduates of the school .
