Centroplacus glaucinus is the only plant species of the monotypic genus Centroplacus in the family of Centroplacaceae within the order of the Malpighiales (Malpighiales). This species was previously classified in the Pandaceae family. The closest relatives are the Ctenolophonaceae .

description

Centroplacus glaucinus is an evergreen deciduous tree . The alternate and two-lined leaves on the branches, stalked leaves are simple and have a serrated edge. Stipules are present.

Centroplacus glaucinus is dioeciously segregated ( dioecious ). Many flowers are grouped together in branched zymous inflorescences . The small, radially symmetrical flowers are five-fold. The five sepals are fused together. The five petals are free. In the male flowers there is only one circle with five stamens . In the female flowers are Staminodien available and the three carpels are a syncarp, Upper permanent ovary grown; the stylus is short. Remnants of the sepals are still present on the capsule and it opens from the base.
