Cesanese del Piglio

Cesanese del Piglio , or Piglio for short, is an Italian red wine from the province of Frosinone in the Lazio region . The wines had had a "controlled designation of origin " ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC) since 1973 . In 2008 they were upgraded to a DOCG , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.

Cultivation

The following municipalities in the province of Frosinone are authorized for the cultivation and vinification of the wines: Piglio and Serrone and parts of the municipalities of Acuto , Anagni and Paliano .

generation

At least 90% of the wine must be made from the Cesanese di Affile and / or Cesanese Comune grape varieties . A maximum of 10% other grape varieties approved for cultivation in the Lazio region may be added.

According to the denomination:

  • Color: ruby red with violet reflections
  • Odor: characteristic
  • Taste: soft, slightly bitter, dry
  • Alcohol content: at least 12.0  % by volume , for "Superiore" 13% by volume
  • Acidity : at least 4.5 g / l
  • Dry extract: at least 22.0 g / l, for "Superiore" 24 g / l
