Cesanese Comune is an autochthonous red wine variety from the Lazio region in Italy. It is part of the Cesanese family. Their cultivation is recommended in the provinces of Frosinone , Rieti , Latina and Terni as well as the metropolitan city of Rome . It is also approved in the province of Salerno in Campania . In 1999 a planted vineyard area of 985 hectares was raised.
The late ripening variety produces ruby red wines that should be drunk young. They are included in the DOCG wines Cesanese del Piglio and in the DOC wines Castelli Romani , Cerveteri , Cesanese di Affile , Cesanese di Olevano Romano , Cori , Rosso Orvietano and Tarquinia .
