Château Mont-Choisi
Château Mont-Choisi was one of the first and internationally most famous boarding schools for girls in Switzerland . The boarding school existed from 1885 to 1995 in Pully , a south-eastern suburb of Lausanne , in the canton of Vaud .
history
It was founded in 1885 as a boarding school for senior daughters and was located in a castle-like villa on Chemin des Ramiers in the hills above Lake Geneva , about three kilometers from the city center of Lausanne. The school soon gained an international reputation as a finishing school, where young women were prepared for a life in high society.
Since with the changing image of women in Western society, the demand for this kind of education quickly decreased after the Second World War , the academic aspect of school education was increasingly emphasized, especially from the 1960s, and the institute was then one until it was closed in 1995 Secondary school with grades 9 to 12 in the so-called "American Program", which concluded with the acquisition of a high school diploma recognized in the USA , and a 13th grade that prepared for the aptitude test at American colleges . The languages of instruction were English and French. The school was accredited by both the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the European Council of International Schools (ECIS) .
The following were also offered: an intensive one-year French language course leading to the Alliance française certificate ; a business and tourism program that graduated in one or two years with a Pitman Certificate and prepared for attending a Swiss hotel management school ; and intensive courses of one or two years in English as a second language, in preparation for the relevant British and American language tests.
The approximately 1.2 hectare campus , in a quiet residential area, ultimately comprised six school and four residential buildings, as well as a gym, tennis court and heated swimming pool .
The school closed in 1995. The school authority , which was now a stock company , went into liquidation . The AG was deleted from the Swiss commercial register on December 30, 2015 .
