Chacón is a town in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Chacón is the neighboring town of Trinidad Pampa , the second largest town in the Arapata canton in the Coripata municipality in the Nor Yungas province . The village is located at an altitude of 1703  m on the left, western bank of the Río Santa Elena, which flows in a north-easterly direction a few hundred meters downstream into the Río Peri, a left tributary of the Río Tamampaya .

Chacón is located in the transition area between the Altiplano and the Cordillera Real in the west and the foothills of the Amazon lowlands in the east.

The annual precipitation here in the subtropical Yungas is 1100 mm (see Coroico climate diagram) and has a clear dry season from May to August and a rainy season from December to February. The monthly average temperatures fluctuate only slightly between 20 ° C and 25 ° C, during the day it is warm in summer and pleasantly cool at night.

Transport network

Chacón is 118 kilometers by road northeast of La Paz , the capital of the department.

From La Paz, the asphalted national road Ruta 3 leads in a northeasterly direction 52 kilometers to Cotapata and from there as a gravel road over 35 kilometers to Coroico . Here the Ruta 40 branches off to the southeast and after 31 kilometers crosses the Trinidad Pampa .
