Chaim Landau ( Hebrew חיים לנדאו; * September 10, 1916 in Krakow ; † October 16, 1981 ) was an Israeli minister .

politics

From 1984 to 1996 he was a member of the Knesset from the 1st to the 8th legislative term. From 1949 to 1965 he was a Knesset member of the Cherut , from 1965 to 1974 he was a Knesset member of the Gahal , from 1974 to 1977 he was a Knesset member of the Likud , from 1969 to 1970 he was Israeli Minister of Transport . From 1978 to 1979 he was Minister without Portfolio and from 1979 to 1981 he was Minister of Transport.

Life

He immigrated to Palestine in 1935. He was a member of the Betar and Irgun while he continued his studies as a construction engineer at the Technion .

In 1940 he was in command of the Betar branch in Haifa , in early 1944 he was sent to Tel Aviv and was made a member of the General Headquarters towards the end of the same year . In 1947 he represented the Irgun together with Menachem Begin and Schmuel Katz at a meeting of the UNSCOP .
