Chaka Demus & Pliers is a Jamaican reggae - and dancehall - Duo , the Bonn in the 1990s by the two musicians John Taylor (DJ Chaka Demus) and Everton (Pliers) was founded. Chaka Demus acts as DJ and producer in this duo , while Pliers takes on the vocal part .

Career

When the duo teamed up in the 1990s and had their first successes, Chaka Demus and Pliers had already made a name for themselves in the dancehall music industry with solo careers. Her 1993 single Tease Me became a hit. The next single Murder She Wrote , recorded by producers Sly & Robbie , stayed in the UK singles charts for months a year later and climbed to number 3. In between, Chaka Demus & Pliers released a re-release of Tease Me , which was in the Charts ranked number 1. They had their greatest success with their version of Twist and Shout , released in December 1993 , which was co-created with Jack Radics and the Taxi Gang and which became another number 1 hit in Great Britain. The debut album Tease Me also reached number 1 in the UK and was awarded platinum . It achieved platinum status in Canada and France.

After a long period of separation, Chaka Demus & Pliers reunited in 2007 to produce the single Need Your Lovin ' released on vinyl . The song is the first release of the album So Proud from 2008. In November 2007, they appeared with Alicia Keys at the American Music Awards and sang their former hit single Murder She Wrote .

Chaka Demus & Pliers were the first Jamaican artists to have three consecutive top hits in the UK singles charts. It wasn't until 2001 that Shaggy set this record with four top hits in a row.
