Jack Radics (* as Balfour Bailey in Kingston , Jamaica ) is a singer and songwriter who enjoyed commercial success in Europe in the 1990s .
biography
Balfour Bailey came to New York at the beginning of his career . There he worked for Sound System New World in 1975. For his first record he chose Get Down on It , a song by Kool & The Gang . In the early 1980s, the Jamaican moved to London , where he sang a duet with Debbie Ryvers and recorded his first solo single ( Walk on By ) as Jack Radics in 1985 . After returning home in 1988, he had his first national hits there with Dream Merchant and Conversation . The debut album Jack was released in 1991. From then on, working with other artists, including Sly & Robbie , Freddie McGregor , Ali Campbell , Mr. President and Big Youth , became part of everyday life.
Jack Radics made use of his music in the classics of reggae and mixed the sound of Motown - and Stax - Soul , Calypso and Pop . Twist and Shout , which feature with Chaka Demus & Pliers , gave the singer the end of 1993 his first number-one hit in the UK . The single went platinum and received an entry in the Guinness Book of Records . His 1994 album Open Rebuke was voted the best reggae album of the year by Black Music magazine Echoes .
For the 1998 World Cup, the title Go for Jamaica! in the record stores. The collaboration with the German producer Rüdiger Nieschmidt, whom Radics had met a few years earlier in Jamaica, resulted in new songs and the 1999 album Love & Laughter . The single No Matter was not only successful in German-speaking countries , but also a radio hit in South Africa . With the producers Grant Michael B. and Pomez di Lorenzo, songs were created for the 2001 long player Always Around .
