The Chalaronne is a river in France that runs in the Ain department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region . It rises in the lake area of the Dombes , in the municipality of Lapeyrouse , initially drains in an easterly direction, then turns to north and northwest and flows 52 kilometers below Thoissey as a left tributary into the Saône .
