Challapampa is a town in the La Paz department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Challapampa is a scattered settlement and is located on the Isla del Sol ( Sun Island ) in the province of Manco Kapac in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Copacabana . The village is located in the southern part of the 3,810 m high Lake Titicaca at an altitude of 3815  m on the northeast coast of the sunny island . The core of the village lies on a strip of land that is only a hundred meters wide, which connects one of the offshore peninsulas with the Isla del Sol.

Challapampa is located on the Bolivian Altiplano between the Andes mountain ranges of the Cordillera Occidental in the west and the Cordillera Central in the east.
