Chaman ( Urdu : چمن) is a city and the administrative seat of the Qilla Abdullah District in Balochistan , Pakistan . Chaman is located in the south of the border with Afghanistan and connects across the border with the Afghan city of Spin Boldak in the province of Kandahar . The place is one of the three border crossing points, next to Torkham on the Khyber Pass and Ghulam Khan between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The population of Chaman is mainly composed of the Achakzai tribe, who belong to the Pashtuns . According to the 2017 census, 123,191 people live in the city.

Transport routes and trade

Chaman has a transshipment station for travelers from Kandahar and other parts of Afghanistan. In addition, a passenger train connects Chaman and Quetta daily . The place is a famous trading place in Balochistan, which connects Afghanistan with India to Karachi .

Sports

The residents of the place are famous all over the country for their successful soccer game. The Chaman football club, as well as the Afghan and Muslim football clubs, have represented the place in Pakistani football since 1940. The Chaman Football Club provides numerous players for the Pakistani national team such as Mohammad Essa and Hayat Ullah and others. The place is also home to Afghan FC , which plays in the Pakistan Premier League . Two players from this team play in the national team of Pakistan, including their captain Muhammad Essa. The Jamal Nasir Shaheed Stadium is located in the village .

Afghan war

On August 30, 2009, an attack on a place NATO - storage place, were shot in the numerous tanks and fuel trucks and other delivery vehicles with rockets and firearms before the vehicles were destroyed.
