The Es-cha hut or Chamanna d'Es-cha ( Rhaeto-Romanic ) is a mountain hut belonging to the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) of the Bernina section in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland . The Es-cha hut is located at 2594 m above sea level. M. height above the Upper Engadine at the southern foot of Piz Kesh , one of eight known as "Ultra" mountains in Switzerland with over 1500 meters prominence . The panorama at the hut includes a. the Bernina group .
,The hut offers 50 beds and is managed in the summer season from mid-June to mid-October and in the winter season from the end of February to mid-April.
history
The Es-cha hut was built in 1934 by the Bernina section of the SAC and converted and expanded in 1989.
Approaches
The hut can be reached in summer in 2½ hours from Madulain and in 3 hours from Zuoz via Alp Es-cha Dadour and in 2 hours from Punt Granda on the Albula pass road via Fuorcla Gualdauna . In winter, access is only possible from Madulain and Zuoz, as Albulastrasse is closed.
Tours
The hut is suitable for circular hikes and summit destinations, glacier and ski tours, for example on Piz Kesch. It is suitable for families and is a stage stop on the Bündner Hauteroute and the “Kesch Trek”, a multi-day hike between the Engadine and Davos.
On the north side of Piz Kesch is the Kesch Hut , which can be reached from Chamanna d'Es-cha on the white-blue-white marked path over Porta d'Es-cha and the Porchabella glacier in 2 ½ hours or over the Fuorcla Pischa 2781 m above sea level M. and the Val Plazbi can be reached in 5–6 hours.
