Old sawmill ( La Resgia )

The year-round inhabited settlement is located on the Vallember and its confluence with the Inn and forms the southern entrance to the Val Susauna . The majority of the 100 or so residents are of the Reformed denomination and speak mainly Puter as their mother tongue.

chapel

In 1209 the chapel in the village was first documented under the patronage of Nikolaus von Myra and Ulrich von Augsburg . This sacred building , known as Nikolauskapelle , which was a hall church in the Romanesque style with a round apse , had a hospice from around 1250 , in which travelers on the connecting route Davos - Bormio received accommodation, food and, in the event of illness, care.

Before the Reformation was accepted in 1524, the church was expanded in the late Gothic style in the area of the choir . The reformed parishes of Cinuos-chel and Susauna used the building as a preaching church until the 18th century. After the construction of its own houses of worship there, the church fell into disrepair. In 1981, after an archaeological investigation, a comprehensive restoration took place.

hospice

In the early days, the hospice was looked after by Dominicans from Como . Possibly these formed the first branch of the order in Switzerland. In the late Middle Ages, the hospice served as a poor and infirmary for the Plaiv . Towards the end of the 18th century, the hospice was abandoned and then used as an estate by the Upper Engadine family of the Perinis . In 1967 the Stiftung / Fundaziun Chapella established an educational center for young people, so that the building was again open to the public.
