The Chapman Peak is a 2230 m high mountain in the west Antarctic Ellsworthland . It rises on the eastern flank of the Ellen Glacier and 8 km northeast of Mount Jumper in the center of the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own surveys and with the help of aerial photographs of the United States Navy between 1957 and 1959. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1961 after Captain John H. Chapman of the United States Air Force , who lived between 1956 and 1957 was involved in the establishment of the first South Pole station .
