Charles-Antoine Flajoulot
Charles-Antoine Flajoulot (* 1774 in Besançon ; † September 15, 1840 there ) was a French painter .
Life
Flajoulot probably studied with Jacques-Louis David . He was director of the École des Beaux-Arts de Besançon and also taught drawing at the Collège Royal de Besançon, where the young Gustave Courbet and Louis Pasteur were among his students. In a letter to his parents, Gustave Courbet mentions Flajoulot as “bon professeur” (“good teacher”).
Paul Brune characterized Flajoulot as an "excentrique qui se proclamait le roi du dessin" ("eccentric who considered himself a master draftsman").
