Life

Charles Edward Drennan was ordained a priest on June 14, 1996 .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on February 22, 2011 Coadjutor Bishop of Palmerston North. The Bishop of Palmerston North, Peter James Cullinane , ordained him episcopally on June 11 of that year ; Co- consecrators were Mark Benedict Coleridge , Archbishop of Canberra-Goulburn , and Barry Philip Jones , Bishop of Christchurch .

When Peter James Cullinane retired on February 22, 2012, he succeeded him as Bishop of Palmerston North. Pope Francis accepted his resignation on October 4, 2019. The background for the premature resignation from office were allegations of "unacceptable behavior of a sexual nature", which a young woman had brought against Drennan.
