Charles Miller Fisher

Charles Miller Fisher (born December 5, 1913 in Waterloo (Ontario) , † April 14, 2012 in Albany (New York) ) was a Canadian neurologist .

In 1998 he was inducted into the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame for his achievements .

Life

Fisher became known, among other things, for the description of a variant of what is now known as Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) acute polyradiculitis. The variant was described by Fisher in 1956 on the basis of three cases and was characterized by a syndrome of ophthalmoplegia , ataxia and areflexia . This variant is now commonly referred to as Miller-Fisher syndrome .
