Charles Philippe Dieussart was probably one of Holland originating Huguenot . His brother was the sculptor Jean Baptist Dieussart , who worked in Sweden .

In 1657 Dieussart entered the service of Duke Gustav Adolf of Mecklenburg-Güstrow . One of his first works in Mecklenburg and at the same time one of his most important is the manor house Rossewitz , the first baroque building in Mecklenburg. The tomb for Günther von Passow in Güstrow Cathedral is also known . The construction of the gatehouse at Güstrow Castle (1671) is also attributed to him. Another focus of his work was the Dargun Castle , where he rebuilt the west wing, among other things.

Several trips took him through Europe, including to Copenhagen, where he got the opportunity in 1668 to work for King Frederik III. to work. At the request of Duke Gustav Adolf, however, the king resigned and Dieussart returned to Güstrow. In 1679 he published the book Theatrum Architecturae civilis , which had a great influence at that time.

He then went to Brandenburg-Prussia as an electoral builder and sculptor in the service of the Great Elector Friedrich Wilhelm . His main work there is the Glienicke hunting lodge (built 1682–1693).

He spent the last years of his life in the Principality of Bayreuth in the service of Margrave Christian Ernst as court and agricultural master. He was in charge of the reconstruction of the old castle on Bayreuth's market square, including the design of the facade. After his death, Leonhard Dientzenhofer was his successor, whose work had also been influenced by Dieussart.
