Charles S. Thompson

Charles S. Thompson (born August 28, 1908 in Canada , † July 9, 1994 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American film actor and production designer who worked on over 205 film and television sets.

Career

In the early 1940s, Thompson began working in the film business. In addition to minor, unmentioned roles in films, from then on he worked behind the camera as a production designer and decorator in the film business. His best-known works were each recognized with an Oscar nomination in the category Best Production Design (Color Film) . He received the nominations at the 1953 Academy Awards together with Frank Hotaling and John McCarthy Jr. for The Winner and at the 1966 Academy Awards together with George W. Davis , Urie McCleary and Henry Grace for Dreaming Lips . In the same year he received a Primetime Emmy Awards nomination for his work on the television series Solo for ONCEL with Henry Grace, Frank Lombardo and Jack Mills .

His last role was in the television movie Charlie Chan: A Well-Kept Secret in 1973. In 1994, at the age of 85, Charles S. Thompson died.
