Charles Schmidt (politician)

Charles Schmidt (born June 3, 1906 in Rixdorf near Berlin , † December 2, 1971 in Berlin) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Charles Schmidt attended a business school and did a commercial apprenticeship. He became an independent tobacco goods retailer and was a co-founder of the "Association of Berlin Tobacco Goods Retailers". After the Second World War , he joined the CDU in 1945 and was elected to the District Assembly (BVV) in the Wedding district in the Berlin election in 1948 . In the following election in 1950 , Schmidt was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives, but left in April 1951 because he was elected to the district councilor by BVV Wedding. His successor in parliament was then Rudolf Krohn (1917–1995). In the following election in 1954 , Schmidt was re-elected to the House of Representatives, but resigned again in February 1955, since he was still a district councilor. The successor was now Helmuth Harries (1902–1977). In 1963 Schmidt resigned as a district councilor.
