Charles Thomas Jackson

Charles Thomas Jackson (born June 21, 1805 in Plymouth , Massachusetts , † August 28, 1880 in Somerville , Massachusetts) was an American physician , chemist , geologist and mineralogist .

Jackson is known among other things for his violent priority disputes with Samuel FB Morse about the electric telegraph and with William Thomas Green Morton about the use of the anesthetic effect of ether . In 1837 Jackson was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
