Charles de Kerchove de Denterghem (* 1911 ; † 1983 ) was a Belgian diplomat .

Life

Charles Kerchove de Denterghem is a member of the De Kerchove de Denterghem family of flower growers, he was the son of André de Kerchove de Denterghem , the grandson of Oswald de Kerchove de Denterghem and the great-grandson of Viktor Charles de Kerchove de Denterghem. He married Anne-Marie Engels (born July 24, 1922). Her son is Renaud de Kerchove de Denterghem (born July 30, 1948).

In 1955, Charles Kerchove de Denterghem was counselor at the Belgian embassy in Cologne under Hervé de Gruben .

From April 2, 1962 to May 31, 1966, Charles Kerchove de Denterghem was the Belgian ambassador to Kinshasa in the Republic of the Congo . During his tenure in November 1964, Operation Dragon Rouge and Dragon Noir took place against the Maoist People's Republic of the Congo. Mobutu Sese Seko , who came to power in this way , had Léopoldville renamed Kinshasa in 1965.

In 1966, Kerchove de Denterghem had the cellar vaults of Kasteel van Beervelde in Parc de Beervelde in Lochristi designed by Roger Raveel , Raoul De Keyser , Etienne Elias and Reinier Lucassen . In 1973 he became the Belgian ambassador to France.
