Charlie Phil Rosenberg

Charlie Phil Rosenberg (actually Charles Green * 15. August 1902 in New York City ; † 12. March 1976 ) was an American boxer in the bantamweight .

Professional career

Rosenberg began his career in 1921, but could not celebrate his first victory until July 1922. In 1924 he achieved nine victories (three of them by knockout) in a row. On March 20, 1925, he boxed Eddie Martin for both the universal and the NYSAC World Championship and won by unanimous decision. He held this belt until February 4, 1927, when he won a 15-round fight against Bushy Graham , but did not leave the ring as the winner because of his weight.

In 1929 he ended his career after 33 wins, 7 of which were knocked out.

In 1990, Rosenberg, who belonged to Judaism, was inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame .
