Charlotte von Hobe (born November 29, 1792 on Gut Chemnitz in Mecklenburg (today in Blankenhof ); † April 11, 1852 in Malchow Monastery ) was a German writer and canon.

Life

Hobehaus in Neustrelitz

Charlotte von Hobe came from the Mecklenburg prehistoric noble family von Hobe . She was a daughter of the court marshal at the court of Mecklenburg-Strelitz Friedrich Eugen von Hobe (1760–1808) and his wife Lisette, née. von Lützow , and grew up in Neustrelitz in what is now known as the Hobehaus am Schloss. Together with her brothers, including August von Hobe , she received lessons from private tutors.

Friedrich von Matthisson campaigned for poems written by her to be published in the Stuttgarter Morgenblatt for educated classes .

In the year 1829, the Neue Nekrolog of the Germans erroneously reported their deaths. This was due to a mix-up with her sister Adolphine († February 5, 1829), a lady in waiting for Charlotte von Sachsen-Hildburghausen . In the following year her poem Die Todtgeglaubte appeared as a correction , which had first appeared in the Freimüthigen Abendblatt .

She last lived as a canon in the Mecklenburg state monastery of Malchow and was buried in Neustrelitz.
