Charm School is an American reality television series produced by the production company 51 Minds for the television channel VH1 and directed by Mark Cronin, Cris Abrego and Ben Samek. In the series, candidates from various reality formats of the station compete against each other in the race for a cash prize and the title of "Charm School Queen". Three seasons were produced between 2007 and 2009.

Charm School: Flavor of Love Girls (2007)

After the success of the first two seasons of the dating show Flavor of Love , VH1 developed a related show concept in collaboration with 51 Minds , which was first broadcast on April 15, 2007 under the title Flavor of Love Girls: Charm School .

Selected candidates from the first two seasons of the television program Flavor of Love competed against each other in eleven episodes in the race for the title of "Charm School Queen". Actress Mo'Nique took on the role of school principal and, with the help of Keith Lewis and Mikki Taylor, decided on the careers of the participants in the Charm School . The aim of this season was to develop decent manners in everyday life and at work. The prize money was $ 50,000.

The names previously assigned to the candidates by Flavor Flav were abolished in the first episode, from where only the first names were used. Saaphyri Windsor won the first season of Charm School for $ 50,000 in prize money. Runner-up, Leilene Ondrade, was promised a consolation prize of $ 10,000 at the post-event reunion show.

In Germany, MTV showed a subtitled, uncensored version of the first season from February 24, 2008.

Jennifer and Brooke participated in the first season of I Love Money in the summer of 2008 under their old nicknames "Toastee" and "Pumkin" . Saaphyri, Leilene and Becky could be seen as participants in the second season of I Love Money, which aired from February 2009 .

Charm School: Rock of Love Girls (2008)

Following the example of the first season, VH1 showed a second season with the title Rock of Love Charm School from October 12, 2008 to January 4, 2009 . The premiere on German television took place on June 17, 2009 on MTV under the title Charm School: Rock of Love Girls . The series was broadcast uncensored in the English original with German subtitles.

Under the direction of Sharon Osbourne and her assistants Daniella Clarke and Riki Rachtman, 14 candidates from the first two seasons of the dating show Rock of Love competed in eleven episodes for prize money of 100,000 US dollars. Brandi Mahon emerged as the winner.

In the reunion show, there was a violent argument between Sharon Osbourne and candidate Megan Hauserman , which was followed by a lawsuit for negligent bodily harm and deliberate infliction of mental suffering.

after the show

  • Angelique Morgan made it into the top six as a candidate for I Love Money 2 in spring 2009.
  • In August 2009, VH1 showed a dating show with Megan Hauserman in the lead role, but it was canceled early after the death of candidate Ryan Jenkins . The broadcast of I Love Money 3 was also stopped before the premiere because of the criminal case involving Jasmine Fiore and Ryan Jenkins.

Charm School with Ricki Lake (2009)

In May 2009, the third season began broadcasting in the United States under the title Charm School with Ricki Lake . Led by Ricki Lake and with the support of MTV presenter Alani "La La" Vazquez and radio presenter Stryker, candidates from the third season of Rock of Love and the first season of Real Chance of Love compete against each other in the race for $ 100,000 .

The winner of the third season was Ebony “Risky” Jones, who prevailed against Ashley Klarich and Marcia Alves in the final. The reunion show on July 13, 2009 was canceled for unknown reasons.

Ricki Lake pointed to parallels between Charm School and their talk show Ricki Lake, which aired between 1993 and 2004 . Lake admitted not watching Rock of Love Bus or Real Chance of Love and described filming Charm School as one of the toughest tasks of her career.
