Fiege Logistik Holding Stiftung & Co. KG (proper spelling: FIEGE ) is an internationally active German logistics - and goods transport company based in Greven . The company is the parent company of the group called Fiege Group .

history

In 1873, the carter and farmer Joan Joseph Fiege (1835–1905) founded his own trucking business in Greven, which he initially only ran on a modest scale alongside the farm. He drove coal in the neighborhood and set up a small camp. In addition, he took on orders from the local grocers and transported groceries and household appliances for them. From 1884 he began transporting wood for the Greven timber trading company Sahle as well as delivering agricultural products to the then state capital of Münster .

After the death of Joan Joseph Fiege in 1905, his son Josef Fiege took over the company. He continued the business of transporting groceries. After the inauguration of the Dortmund-Ems Canal in 1899, Josef Fiege also took over the transport of stones and building materials that were delivered to the port by barges.

In 1924 the company acquired a used VOMAG truck. Two years later, more trucks were bought. In 1929 the company started long-distance transport and delivered goods to Berlin and Kassel, among other places.

Josef Fiege died in 1938 at the age of 67. His son, Josef Fiege jun., Took over the business. In September 1939, the Oberpräsident of Westphalia declared the Fiege company to be a "vital transport company" and Josef Fiege was practically expropriated.

After 1945 Josef Fiege began to rebuild the company. After his accidental death in 1959, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Heinz took over the management together with Anne Fischbach. In 1967 Josef Fiege's eldest son, Heinz Fiege, joined the company. In 1974 his brother Hugo Fiege followed him. The brothers continued to expand the business. The change from a forwarding and transport company to an international logistics group began with the three-storey new headquarters and administration building in Reckenfeld and the hexagonal goods distribution center built next to it.

In 1999 Fiege moved to the newly built system center at Münster-Osnabrück Airport.

In July 2012, Fiege put the Esprit Distribution Center Europe (DCE) in Mönchengladbach into operation for the fashion manufacturer Esprit . The logistics center takes care of the Europe-wide supply of all Esprit-owned stores and wholesalers. At the end of 2012, Fiege expanded the joint venture Apollo Fiege Integrated Logistics Pvt. Ltd. its market focus on India . The partner of the joint venture is Apollo LogiSolutions Ltd., which belongs to the Indian Apollo Group. The company operates in India as an integrated logistics service provider that offers complete supply chain solutions including services such as air and sea freight, customs clearance, transport services as well as warehouse processing and value-added services.

In 2012, when Heinz and Hugo Fiege left the board, an important step was taken in handing the company over to the fifth Fiege generation. Jens Fiege, son of Heinz Fiege, headed the international division from 2004, initially as CEO, and has been a member of the management board of Fiege Logistik Holding Stiftung & Co. KG since 2009. Felix Fiege, son of Hugo Fiege, joined the management level of the group in 2008 as managing director of the Fiege Engineering division and has also been a member of the management board since 2012.
