The first broadcast of the first season was from October 14, 2018 to May 19, 2019 on the US broadcaster The CW . The German-language first broadcast was broadcast by the free TV channel sixx from June 13 to November 7, 2019. The last three episodes of this season were available via streaming on Joyn before the TV broadcast .

One night, after hearing disturbing news from their mother Marisol, Maggie and Mel Vera come home to discover that she has been murdered. Three months later, the sisters are estranged as Mel blames Maggie for Marisol's death and Maggie decides to leave home to join a sorority. At the same time, Macy Vaughn, a molecular geneticist, is hired to work at Hilltowne University under Thaine, a professor who was recently reinstated after being charged with sexual harassment. Macy introduces Maggie and Mel as her older half-sister and the three are then informed by Harry Greenwood, who introduces himself as their Guardian of Light , that they are witches and that their mother tried to break the bonding spell before she died, who had suppressed their powers. He gives them 48 hours to decide whether to accept their powers or return to their original life. After Macy helps Maggie cast out a demon from her ex, Brian, they discover that everything Harry told them is true. The next day, Mel is lured into a trap by Thaine, which reveals that he is in fact the Archdemon Taydeus. Macy, Maggie and Mel are able to kill Taydeus with the power of three , but learn that he is not the demon who killed their mother. Later that night, Mel finds a Ouija ironing board, with the sisters Marisol contact mind. He warns the sisters not to trust Harry.
