Rupert Evans
Rupert Evans (born March 3, 1976 in Staffordshire , England ) is a British actor . He was best known in Great Britain for his TV appearances.
Life
Rupert Evans was born the oldest of three children in a small village near Uttoxetter in Staffordshire . He attended Milton Abbey School in Dorset , where he played the role of Dorothy in the theater company in The Wizard of Oz .
Instead of working on his parents' farm afterwards, he worked as an assistant in customer service for "My Little Pony". Soon after, he learned acting at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art , where he studied with Matthew Goode , among others .
Career
UK audiences first noticed Evans in 2001 when he made a guest appearance on the BBC sitcom My Family . He was also featured in the TV series Paradise Heights and High Stakes . Above all, he has worked in British costume films and adaptations of novels, such as in Sons & Lovers (2003) with Sarah Lancashire and Hugo Speer, in North and South (2004) with Daniela Denby-Ashe and Richard Armitage and in Fingersmith (2005) with Imelda Staunton and Charles Dance . He played bigger roles in Shakespea Re-Told - A Midsummer Night's Dream (2005) as Zander, in The Palace (2008) as fictional Prince Richard, in Emma (2009) as Frank Churchill and in The Little House (2010) as Patrick Clearly.
He had his first big role on the big screen in 2004 as FBI agent John Myers in Hellboy alongside Selma Blair , John Hurt and Ron Perlman . In 2007 he played in the independent film Guantanamera (Spanish original title "Arritmia") as 'Ali or Jeb'. His recent film appearances include Agora - The Pillars of Heaven from 2010.
On the side he also appeared again and again on the theater stage. In London, he has appeared in plays such as Sweet Panic (2003), Breathing Corpses (2005), His Ghostly Heart (2008) and Life is a Dream (2009), and in 2006 he belonged to the famous Royal Ensemble Shakespeare Company as Louis the Dauphin in King John and as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet . He fell in love with Morven Christie, who played "Julia", and was with her for three years. In 2011 he played George in Alex Courtès ' horror thriller The Incident . Since then he has mainly appeared in various series.
