Cheick Keita (born April 16, 1996 in Paris ) is a Malian football player who is currently without a club.

Career

Keita started playing football at Paris FC before playing at the French national training center INF Clairefontaine until 2011 . He then worked for three years in the youth department of AS Monaco . After being rejected by various French clubs, Keita moved to the youth of the Italian Serie B club Virtus Entella in 2014 . There he made his first appearance in the professional team on September 12, 2015, when he was in the starting line-up for the game against AC Cesena . In his first season, Keita suffered from fouling problems that earned him eleven yellow and two red cards by the end of the 2015/16 season . In the following season 2016/17 he was able to improve in a duel and only picked up a yellow box in one of eleven missions.

On January 19, 2017, Cheick Keita moved to the English second division club Birmingham City . For the Blues , he made his debut on February 4 against Fulham FC . He was on the field for the full length of the game and was able to put on the decisive 1-0 opening goal from Lukas Jutkiewicz in the closing stages of the game . After the game, Keita was named Man of the Match . In his first half season with Birmingham City, Keita came on ten missions.

Keita returned to Italy on Deadline Day 2017 when he was loaned to Bologna FC by Birmingham . After he had to sit out the first few months due to a muscle injury and then only played for the U19s, Keita only made his debut on April 18, 2018 for Bologna's first team when he was substituted on for Sampdoria Genoa . He then played three more games for Rossoblu before returning to Birmingham.

For the 2018/19 season, Keita moved on loan to the Belgian first division club KAS Eupen . There he made his debut on the first day of the new season. In the 2: 5 away defeat against Club Brugge , Keita was on the field for the entire 90 minutes.

After returning to Birmingham, he did not play a single competitive game in the 2019/20 season and left the Blues on a free transfer at the end of this.
