Cheiridopsis is a plant kind from the family of aizoaceae (Aizoaceae). The botanical name is derived from the Greek words cheiris for 'sheath' and -opsis for 'similar' and refers to the paper-like leaf sheaths that are formed during the dormant period.

The species of the genus Cheiridopsis grow as compact to lawn-like, rarely branched plants or are mat-forming. Their leaf sheaths are persistent, the keeled leaves are three-edged to triangular and rounded at their base. Sometimes the leaf margin or the keel are toothed. Your epidermis is papillary .

The individual flowers have bracts . There are four or five sepals . The petals are yellow or cream-colored, rarely purple-orange or red. They are often tinged with purple. The fragrant flowers open around noon and close at sunset. The flowering period extends from April to October.
