Cherie Lunghi

Cherie Mary Lunghi (born April 4, 1952 in Nottingham ) is a British film and stage actress .

Life

Cherie Lunghi was born in Nottingham to a British mother and an Italian father. After he left the family and returned to Italy , Lunghi grew up with her mother and aunts in London . She gained her first acting experience while she was still at school.

In London she attended the Central School of Speech and Drama and Homerton College in Cambridge . After graduating, she joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in the late 1970s , where she played several leading roles. However, she later decided to switch to film and left the RSC. One of her best-known film roles is that of Guinevere , which she embodied in the fantasy film Excalibur (1981). In 1985 she was also seen in the music video for Something About You by the band Level 42 . She moved to Los Angeles for eight years but then returned to the UK because of her mother. In 1995 she was in the list of the 100 hottest women in the world by the men's magazine FHM at number 92. In 2008, she also appeared as a dancer in the series Strictly Come Dancing .

Lunghi had been married to South African Ralph Lawson since 1975, whom she had met during her time at the Central School of Speech and Drama . The marriage was also there to consolidate Lawson's UK residency permit. She was also married to director Roland Joffé ; from this marriage her daughter Nathalie Lunghi emerged, who also works as an actress.
