The Chilchitna River is a left tributary of the Mulchatna River in southwestern Alaska .
Its headwaters are located in the southwestern foothills of the Neacola Mountains at an altitude of 750 m . The Chilchitna River flows mainly in a westerly direction and flows into the Mulchatna River after about 65 km. Its catchment area is bordered on the south by the Koksetna River , to the north by that of Chilikadrotna River . Mesa Mountain rises 9 km south of the river . Tutna Lake , located west of this, is drained via Nikadavna Creek to the Chilchitna River.
