The China Star is a cruise ship built in 1992 as Radisson Diamond for Diamond Cruise , which has been stationed in Hong Kong harbor for casino cruises since 2005 . The China Star is currently the only cruise ship built with a double hull and the largest ship of this type.
Planning and construction
The Radisson Diamond was built by order of Diamond Cruise as hull number 310 at Finnyards in Rauma . She was the world's first cruise ship to be built with the Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull technology and is therefore the first cruise ship to be built with a double hull. With a length of 131.2 meters and a tonnage of 20,295 GT, she is also the world's largest ship of this type. On June 20, 1991, Radisson Diamond was launched. The ship's test drive took place on April 20, 1992.

Radisson Diamond
The Radisson Diamond was delivered to Diamond Cruise on April 30, 1992 and christened on May 28, 1992 in Greenwich . On May 7th, the ship left on its maiden voyage and was used for cruises in the North and Baltic Seas for the next thirteen years .
Omar Star
In June 2005, the Radisson Diamond was sold as Omar Star to the Bahamas-based Treasure Ocean Ltd. sold and transferred to Piraeus on June 9, 2005 , where it was launched .
Asia Star
The Omar Star spent four months in the port of Piraeus before it was renamed Asia Star in October 2005 and transferred to Hong Kong. In 2005, the ship under Asia Cruises began its service as a floating casino in the port of Hong Kong. In 2007 Treasure Ocean Ltd. Asia Star owner . However, the ship remained in service for Asia Cruises.
China Star
In October 2011, the Asia Star was renamed China Star and sold to its current operator China Cruises for 45 million US dollars . Before being put back into service, the China Star was modernized for more than twenty million US dollars. The ship is still used today as a floating casino in the port of Hong Kong, but is also used for short cruises to Taiwan.
Furnishing
In addition to the casino area , the China Star has several restaurants and bars , a library and a show lounge in the glass front of the ship on a total of twelve decks . The China Star can carry up to 354 passengers. A special feature of the ship is a hydraulically lowerable platform that can be used as a mooring point for water sports vehicles.
