The chocolART is the largest chocolate festival in Germany. It takes place annually in Tübingen and with its offshoot "chocolART on tour" also in Neuwied , Wernigerode and Wuppertal . The name “chocolART” is derived from the English words “chocolate” and “ART”, which means something like chocolate art.

Various national and international chocolatiers and top manufacturers from Germany , Italy , Austria , Switzerland , Belgium , France and the Netherlands as well as a few from other countries present their products on the respective market and offer them for sale. There are also events related to chocolate. Depending on the size and location, the festivals last between two and seven days.

history

The chocolate festival was held for the first time in 2006. In 2008, 150,000 people visited the festival within six days, in 2009 even more than 200,000, while in 2010 there were a maximum of 180,000 due to bad weather. In 2015 more than 300,000 visitors visited the festival, this is the previous visitor record. On average, around 100 exhibitors present their products.

chocolART on tour

In 2012 the festival was held for the first time in Wernigerode under the motto “chocolART on tour”. Since then it has been held annually at the end of October in the old town of Wernigerode.

Since October 2016, the festival has also been taking place regularly on Johannes-Rau-Platz and Geschwister-Scholl-Platz along the Werth pedestrian zone in the Barmen district of Wuppertal . The number of exhibitors is around 50, and in 2017 the event had around 150,000 visitors. As a local specialty, the Kaiserwagen of the Wuppertal suspension railway also offers special trips on the subject of chocolate.

In 2019, the event with around 30 to 40 exhibitors will also be organized in Neuwied for the first time .
