The Choisille (in the upper reaches: Petite Choisille ) is a river in France that runs in the Indre-et-Loire department in the Center-Val de Loire region . It rises in the municipality of Nouzilly , drains generally in a south-westerly direction and flows into the Loire as a right tributary after 26 kilometers in the agglomeration of Tours , on the municipal boundary of Fondettes and Saint-Cyr-sur- Loire .

The multiple use of the river name "Petite Choisille" for different rivers in the same catchment area is very confusing: at its source the river Choisille is initially called Petite Choisille , until after about five kilometers from the right it takes in an approximately ten kilometer long tributary, the also has the name Petite Choisille , but is also called Choisille de Chênusson as an alternative . From this point on, the main river takes on the name Choisille and in the local area of La Membrolle-sur-Choisille receives another tributary of the name Petite Choisille with a length of 17 kilometers from the right .
