Mettray is a French commune with a population of 2,068 (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Indre-et-Loire in the region of Center-Val de Loire ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Tours and the Canton of Vouvray (until 2015: Canton of Luynes ). The inhabitants are called Mettrayen (ne) s .
geography
Mettray is located on the Choisille River about seven kilometers north-northwest of Tours . Mettray is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Antoine-du-Rocher in the north, Chanceaux-sur-Chosille in the northeast, Notre-Dame-d'Oé in the east, Tours in the south and southeast, Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire in the south, La Membrolle-sur-Choisille to the west and south-west and Charentilly to the north-west.
history
In 1873 the neighboring municipality of La Membrolle-sur-Choisille was spun off from Mettray and became independent.
