Azay-sur-Cher is a French commune with 3,082 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Indre-et-Loire in the region of Center-Val de Loire ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Tours and the canton of Bléré . The inhabitants are called Azayrois .
geography
Azay-sur-Cher is located in the historical province of Touraine (also known as Jardin de la France ) on the Cher River , 16 kilometers southeast of Tours . Azay-sur-Cher is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Montlouis-sur-Loire in the north, Saint-Martin-le-Beau in the northeast, Athée-sur-Cher in the east and southeast, Truyes in the south, Esvres in the southwest and Véretz in the west.
