geography

Vernou-sur-Brenne is about twelve kilometers east of Tours in the Touraine countryside on the Brenne river , which flows into the Cisse here . The Loire limits the municipality to the south. Vernou-sur-Brenne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Reugny in the north and northeast, Chançay in the east, Noizay in the southeast, Montlouis-sur-Loire in the south, Vouvray in the west and Monnaie in the northwest.

history

As Vernadum , the place has been proven to have existed since 494. A church is reported to have been founded in the fifth century.
