The Karneval Landesverband Mecklenburg-Vorpommern eV (KLMV for short) based in Sukow near Schwerin is the umbrella organization of 87 carnival associations in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern , in which around 7,000 carnivalists are active (as of January 2020). The organization , which was founded in Rostock in May 1990 , has been a member of the Bund Deutscher Karneval and the Foolish European Community since August 1990 .

The tasks of the association include the nationwide representation of the interests of carnivalists, the promotion of events such as state championships in carnival dance sport, the prince couple gala with the election of the state prince couple, the men's ballet tournament , the youth art award and the state presidents' meeting. The former Prime Minister Erwin Sellering and the Lord Mayor of Neubrandenburg Silvio Witt are prominent honorary members of the KLMV.

The existing since 1930 Radener Carneval Club (RCC) in Lalendorf at Güstrow is the oldest still existing Karnevalsverein in carnival national association and commits in the session 2019/2020 his 90th anniversary.

In September 2019, the KLMV hosted the 25th Annual General Meeting of the Bund Deutscher Karneval eV in Neubrandenburg as the host state association. More than 300 delegates and guests from all 35 regional and state associations of the BDK (www.karnevaldeutschland.de) were guests in the city of four gates.

North jester

Every year the KLMV awards the joker medal to "citizens of the state [...] who support carnival associations in maintaining their traditions and thus enrich the cultural landscape in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania."
