Chowder is an American cartoon series produced by Cartoon Network Studios in 2007 and created by CH Greenblatt . The series is about the young apprentice chef Chowder, who is completing an apprenticeship as a chef with his master chef Mung Daal and in his catering company and experiences a wide variety of adventures. The series takes place in the fictional Marzipan City, which is based on the real New York City .

Characters

  • Chowder is a 12-year-old chubby boy who works as an apprentice chef at his master chef Mung Daal and in his catering company. He is a light purple mixture of a cat, a bear and a rabbit, wears a purple coat and a purple hat. As an apprentice, however, due to his imposing preference for food, his great naivety and partly also due to his lack of intelligence, Chowder is more of an obstacle than a help for his master chef Mung Daal and for the catering company. Nevertheless, Chowder dreams of one day becoming a chef himself.
  • Mung Daal is Chowder's master cook and owner of a catering company in Marzipan City. He is a light blue-colored older man, wears glasses and is married to his wife Trüffel, who also works as a cashier in his catering company. As a master chef, he also teaches his apprentice chowder how to prepare the most delicious dishes there is, which is easier said than done now and then due to the clumsy behavior of his apprentice. His most famous trademark is his magnificent mustache, of which he is very, very proud.
  • Schnitzel is a big strong stone monster who works as an employee at Mung Daal's cartering company. He usually wears a white cooking apron and, with a few exceptions, can only communicate with the words "Radda Radda". Paradoxically, despite his limited vocabulary, he is easily understood by the other characters in the series. Because of Chowder's nonsense in the kitchen or elsewhere, Schnitzel seems very annoyed and in a bad mood most of the time in the series.
  • Truffle is Mung Daals wife and works as a cashier at the catering company of his husband. She is an elderly grouchy fairy lady, wears large round glasses and has a huge mushroom on her head. As the cashier of the catering company, she takes the customers' orders, forwards them to her husband and makes sure that the customers get their ordered dishes on time. Due to her centuries-long marriage with Mung Daal, she is mostly annoyed by her husband and quickly becomes jealous when he flirts with other women.
  • Gazpacho is a brown-haired, sometimes fearful, middle-aged mastodon who runs a fruit and vegetable stand at the city's weekend market. He wears a light blue shirt and dungarees and a gold nose ring on his trunk. At his stand he sells the strangest and most unique foods there is and helps Chowder, with whom he is good friends, with his problems. Gazpacho also has a mother, whom he mentions many times on the series, but never appears.
  • Panini is a lovable 12 year old girl and the kitchen apprentice of Ms. Endive and her catering company. It is pink and just like chowder it is a mix of a cat, a bear and a rabbit. She has large rabbit ears that she has tied like a ponytail with a headband and is wearing a yellow dress. Panini is madly in love with chowder and keeps letting him know that despite his repeated rejections. Despite her young age, she is already planning to marry Chowder one day and have many children with him, which is why she usually refers to him as "future husband". She is also much more talented in the kitchen than Chowder and always freaks out when she sees Chowder talking to other girls, for example.
  • Ms. Endive is Panini's master cook and also runs a catering company in Marzipan City. She has green hair, orange skin, a long nose, wears a plumed hat and a red coat. Due to her bitter rivalry with Mung Daal and his catering company, Ms. Endive is mostly portrayed as an antagonist in the series and her body size changes to gigantic in some episodes of the series.
  • Kimchi is a small, smelly cloud of dirt with two eyes and Chowder's pet or best friend. He lives in a cage in Chowder's room, can only communicate with farting noises and loves other smelly things.
  • Gorgonzola is a 12 year old green colored candle holder and apprentice of the candle holder Stilton. He's a cross between a rat and a hamster and wears a patched brown sweater. He also carries a huge burning candle on his head, which he can burn more strongly depending on his mood. In the series, Gorgonzola is portrayed as someone from a humble background and is fed up with being a poor candlestick, which is why he dreams of being rich one day. In addition, due to his great naivety, he shamelessly uses chowder for his plans from time to time.
