Cristian "Cris" Sulser (born September 14, 1977 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss director , author and actor .

education

Sulser attended grammar school and the teachers' seminar at the Heerbrugg Cantonal School . He later studied screenwriting and dramaturgy at the Screenwriting School in Berlin and at the University of California, Los Angeles . He graduated with a Masters in Film Directing from the prestigious American Film Institute in Los Angeles.

Life

In his youth, Sulser began as an actor on the theater and musical stage. From 1998 he worked as an assistant director for the opera director Dieter Kaegi at the opera houses Opera Ireland , Opéra-Théâtre de Metz and later also at the Lismore Opera Festival.

He then worked as an assistant to TV producer Gail Berman-Masters at the Regency Television production company of 20th Century Fox in Los Angeles, including the TV series Malcolm in the Middle , Buffy - The Vampire Slayer and Roswell . He then worked as an assistant director for the feature film "Lost In The Pershing Point Hotel", which won an award at the Sundance Film Festival .

Back in Switzerland, he stood for SRF Swiss Radio and Television , he stood in front of the camera for Nickelodeon Switzerland , the comedy show Dietmar and, from 2004 to 2007, for the comedy show Rätpäck . Together with Sven Epiney , he founded the production company Second Unit Mediaproductions, where he is responsible for directing, developing the material and artistic direction.

Sulser lives and works as a freelance director and writer alternately in Switzerland and Los Angeles. He has produced documentaries, shorts and feature films in Germany and abroad, and directs TV productions and plays. Occasionally he works as a script consultant and as a lecturer in film directing and screenwriting.

Awards

Sulser's short films Scrabble and Goodbye Vesna have been shown at over 150 international film festivals and have won over 35 awards.
