The Kantonsschule Heerbrugg (KSH), also known as Kanti Heerbrugg for short , is a middle school in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley in the village of Heerbrugg . Two training courses are offered that are possible at a middle school: the grammar school and the technical middle school (the former diploma middle school ). The school is relatively young; it was founded in 1975 as a "rural middle school". Since then the school has seen strong growth. Around 600 students are currently being taught by around 100 teachers. On September 27, 2009, the electorate of the canton of St. Gallen approved a comprehensive renovation and expansion. After almost four years of construction, the completely renovated and expanded schoolhouse was ready for occupancy in 2014.

On February 3, 1965, a motion about the establishment of a canton school in the Rhine Valley was discussed. A study commission was set up to clarify the question of needs and the design criteria. A positive report by the study commission on February 16, 1967 caused a tug-of-war between the Altstätten and Heerbrugg locations. There is also heated debate in the newspapers about the future location of a cantonal school. On November 12, 1968, the Grand Council of the Canton of St. Gallen decided in favor of Heerbrugg. The government council explains: “For the time being, the right location for the school must be chosen regardless of the construction sites on offer. Local wishes must not be decisive either. The decisive factor must be the location with which the largest possible number of talented students can be recorded today and in the future. This school and social aspect is therefore crucial when choosing a location. … ». In a referendum on June 4, 1972, the proposal for the Heerbrugg Cantonal School was approved with 56 percent votes in favor and 44 percent against. Construction began in 1973 and school operations began on April 21, 1975 with 135 pupils and five classes.

In teacher training college were 1,975 to 2,004 primary teachers trained.

Following the decision of the Cantonal Council of June 3, 2009 and the referendum of September 27, 2009, in which the renovation and expansion of the Heerbrugg Cantonal School was approved with a 72% yes vote, construction work on the project could begin in April 2010 . The renovation was completed in May 2014 and the extension could be handed over to its purpose.

The software allows us to visualize all objects in the Messier catalog and many more in the NGC catalog . The planets (and planetoids) of our solar system and their moons are all shown in 3D and can even be "traveled", so that a completely new perspective on our solar system is created. "

In 2016, the “ Planet Path ” created by students in the astronomy course will be opened. The sun is the first station in the observatory, another eight are placed at the correct distance and size.
