The Kantonsschule am Brühl (KSB) is a middle school in the canton of St. Gallen and is located in the city of St. Gallen . It offers the courses for technical secondary school (FMS), business secondary school with a focus on languages (WMS-S) or computer science (WMS-I) and computer science school (IMS). Around 500 students are currently attending KSB and around 65 teachers work at the school.
The canton school at Brühl is the second canton school in the city of St. Gallen alongside the canton school at Burggraben . In contrast to Burggraben, however, the KSB does not offer a high school diploma; instead, the graduates receive the technical secondary school certificate / specialist Matura or the vocational Matura with EFZ.
history
The canton school at Brühl was created in 1994 from the former traffic school and the Talhof secondary school.
building
The school uses the school building at Notkerstrasse 20 , which was built in 1910 for the St. Gallen Commercial College, today's University of St. Gallen , as the main building and the second location is the building at Untere Brühl 1, the Talhof schoolhouse. Both buildings are listed in the inventory of buildings worthy of protection of the city of St. Gallen and are therefore effectively subject to monument protection .
Courses
The Kantonsschule am Brühl offers three courses: technical secondary school (FMS), business secondary school (WMS) and computer science secondary school (IMS). The three courses differ in terms of curriculum and degree.
Technical middle school
In August 2018, the Kantonsschule am Brühl offers the following professional fields at the Fachmittelschule (FMS):

- Shape
- Communication and information
- music
Business middle school
The business school is divided into two courses, namely
- WMS-S with a focus on languages and
- WMS-I with a focus on computer science.
Computer science middle school
Since 2017 it has been possible to complete an IT training at the canton school at Brühl.
