Christian "Chris" Töpperwien (born February 26, 1974 in Neuss ) is a German entrepreneur , restaurateur and reality TV participant.

Life

Töpperwien obtained the technical college entrance qualification in 1993 . Then he joined his uncle's snack bar and ran a branch in Cologne's Kaufhof for a year . He then began training as an office communications clerk , which he successfully completed in 1996.

In 2003 he founded an advertising agency in Cologne. In 2011 he emigrated to the USA. Töpperwien's first company was the silver jewelry label "Silver Angeles". In February 2012 he put the first “No.1 Currywurst Truck” into operation in Los Angeles. Chris Töpperwien has expanded his business into a licensing system, which he expanded to include two licensees in the US state of Florida.

In 2012 Töpperwien was one of the protagonists of the docu-soap series Goodbye Germany! The emigrants from the TV station VOX . Several reports have been made about his life and work in Los Angeles . He was discovered by reporters on Sat1 breakfast television . While filming in the film metropolis, they found out about the currywurst truck of the Cologne-based company and accompanied Chris Töpperwien for a report over several days.

In May 2014 Töpperwien married the trained musical actress Magdalèna "Magey" Kalley. In September 2018, the couple announced their separation.

In January 2019, Töpperwien was a candidate for the thirteenth season of Ich bin ein Star - Get me out of here! and took 6th place there. In the same period, Bild Direkt published under # 86 - The "Currywurst-Mann" file, a 20-minute podcast in which 14–15 different people turned to the Bild editorial team to raise a long chain of complaints. Among other things, an illegal competition in California.

Then he also took part in the jungle special of The Perfect Celebrity Dinner .

On January 28, 2019, RTL2 broadcast the program In 90 Days to Success - Emigrate with Chris Töpperwien . In this, he accompanied and advised people who wanted to emigrate to the United States on an investor visa and helped them organize a visa and implement a suitable business idea. However, due to low audience ratings, the program was initially postponed to a later slot and then canceled entirely. The star quoted: "Emigrate with Chris Töpperwien - or: The worst docu-soap on German television."

In the course of the show, Töpperwien was also accused of using it as a pretext to win potential investors and participants in the show for an illegal US franchise of its currywurst truck. On September 21, 2018, Töpperwien was finally officially prohibited by the state of California from using the term “franchise” without a license being granted.

The artist management of Töpperwien was carried out by the Berlin artist manager and porn producer Wolf Wagner (bourgeois Christian Renz) until July 2019 . Wagner's activities as a porn producer were for the first time parallel to the broadcast of the thirteenth season of Ich bin ein Star - Get me out of here! , in which Töpperwien took part. Wagner accompanied Töpperwien to the RTL format. An actor from Wagner's productions recognized him as a porn producer and communicated this to the press. Parallel to the termination of the artist management mandate, Wagner published a porn parody about Töpperwien in July 2019. The focus of the parody is on Töpperwien's social media activity

Töpperwien does not have a green card . At the end of 2019, he prematurely lost his US “ E-2 ” investor visa, which was originally valid until July 2021 and gave him the opportunity to work in the USA. He currently has a “ B-1 ” business visitor visa, which is limited to six months .

In November 2019 Chris Töpperwien announced his partnership with the 15 years younger Austrian Magalie Berghahn. The engagement took place five weeks later.

Since January 2020, the German press, above all the Bild-Zeitung and RTL Television, have been publishing more and more details about Christian Töpperwien's life. The allegations made range from investor fraud to inciting tax evasion.
