Christa Loercher

Christa Lörcher , née Treumann (born June 24, 1941 in Mewe , Marienwerder district , Danzig-West Prussia ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She has been a member of the SPD since 1970. She was a member of the Bundestag from September 3, 1993 until the end of the 14th legislative period in 2002, each time elected via the state list. She had also applied for the direct mandate in the Schwarzwald-Baar constituency .

Life

Christa Lörcher passed her Abitur in 1959 and studied at the University of Tübingen and at the Pedagogical University of Esslingen, where she graduated as a primary and secondary school teacher. Then she became a secondary school teacher for mathematics and physics. She received a scholarship from the Volkswagenwerk Foundation for mathematics projects in England, USA and Sweden. She then completed practical vocational training to become a geriatric nurse.

She worked as a math and physics teacher in various types of schools and worked on the Kahle / Lörcher mathematics plant for secondary schools. She worked as a geriatric nurse in retirement and nursing homes and in geriatric psychiatry. From 1988 she was a teaching nurse for the elderly and the sick.

Lörcher was first a member of the GEW , then the ötv union (today ver.di ). She worked in the child protection association, in the workers' welfare and with the friends of nature .

In 1970 she joined the SPD and became deputy district chairman. Since 1989 she was a member of the district council and deputy group leader. For the 13th legislative period she became a member of the Bundestag on September 3, 1993 and resigned from the SPD parliamentary group on November 15, 2001.

Political activity

In November 2001, Lörcher became known nationwide when she refused to vote for Chancellor Schröder on the vote of confidence , as the vote on a military operation ( war in Afghanistan ) was tied to it. She previously resigned from the SPD parliamentary group and was a non-attached member of the Bundestag for the remainder of the legislative period . For her consistency, Christa Lörcher was recognized in 2002 with the Clara Immerwahr Award , the International Doctors' Peace Prize for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW) . To this day Christa Lörcher is an active member of the SPD and is particularly involved in the Schwarzwald-Baar district .
