Christian Albrecht von Grothusen (born October 9, 1680 in Schleswig ; † November 16, 1715 near Stresow on Rügen ) was a German soldier in the Swedish service.

Life

Christian Albrecht von Grothusen was the son of Lieutenant General Otto Johann von Grothusen in the Swedish service , heir to Turow in Pomerania and Stürzenhof in Livonia . His mother was Margaretha von Behr from the Edwahlen family.

The father was raised to Baron von Turow in 1687, the Grothusenkoog in Schleswig-Holstein is named after him. Christian Albrecht von Grothusen became ensign of the Swedish army in 1697, captain in 1701 and lieutenant colonel in 1703. He was from 1709 to 1714 with King Karl XII. of Sweden in exile by Bender and his confidante. In 1710 he was promoted to colonel in Bender and represented Charles XII. as envoy in Constantinople in the same year . In 1715 he was in command of Usedom and, as major general of the cavalry, commander of the Bohusläns Dragoon Battalion. He fell in the battle of Stresow that same year .
