Christian Doepke (* 1966 in Munich ) is a German composer and jazz pianist .

Live and act

Doepke started playing the piano at the age of 14 . After taking private lessons, he made his first appearances as a keyboard player in a pop group. In 1989 he attended the Arnhem Conservatory in the Netherlands and studied jazz piano .

After graduating in 1994, he returned to Munich. Between 1995 and 2005 he played a large number of concerts with several groups in Germany, Holland, Austria, the Czech Republic and Turkey. As a sideman he was involved in the recordings of several CDs and worked as a pianist and composer in TV, film and theater productions.

In 2003 he recorded his first solo piano album “Heaven Knows” with his own compositions, followed by “Adlibs”, in collaboration with Christian Diener (bass), Guido May (drums) and partly Rick Margitza on tenor saxophone. The album "Adlibs" was released on the Jazz & Milk label (founded by Christian's nephew Christoph Doepke as Dusty) . In 2006 Christian Doepke moved to Amsterdam .

Doepke has worked with Rhiannon , Joey Blake, David Worm, Sheila Jordan , Jenny Evans , Rick Keller, Johannes Enders , Claudio Roditi , Horacio Hernandez , William Galison, Dusko Goykovich , John Engels , Henning Sieverts , Thaisa Olivia, Deborah J. Carter , Liz Howard, Masha Bijlsma , Peter Horton , Elke Voltz, The Blue Angels or The Croonettes .

Doepke received the MDR Special Prize in 1991 and took part in the Leipzig Jazz Days in the same year . In 1993 he was a finalist at the Skymasters Trophy in Amsterdam.
